Facebook is LIMITING What You Can See

Facebook is LIMITING What You Can See

April 15, 2024

Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) recently announced that it is filtering out political content from users’ feeds.

This includes posts related to government, elections, and social topics at their discretion.

As a result, organizations like ours, which rely on these platforms to disseminate important information about meetings, lawmakers’ performance, and action alerts, face a higher risk of being censored and prohibited from getting important information to you.

Why is this so important?

81% of adult Americans are on Facebook, so if True Texas Project wants to grow, we need a way to reach everyone!

We believe that access to diverse political perspectives and news coverage is essential for voters to make informed decisions at the polls. By restricting the visibility of political content with elections coming up, Meta is hindering users’ ability to engage with a wide range of viewpoints and stay informed about crucial matters.

Fortunately, there is a way for you to ensure that you continue to have access to political content on these platforms.

Simply follow these steps:

1. Go to your profile and tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner to open the “Settings and Activity” tab.

2. Scroll down to the “What you see” section and click on “Content preferences.”

3. Open the “Political content” page and turn on the “Don’t limit political content” option.

Not only is Meta participating in this type of censorship, so are email services like Google. They did this in the 2020 and 2022 Republican primaries. That’s why it is so important for you to check your spam folder often for important messages from us!

Take action to ensure that you receive the political content you want to see and stay informed about important issues affecting your community.
