This month at True Texas Project we are ramping up for next year’s 88th Legislative Session. We have invited Texas Scorecard’s publisher, Michael Quinn Sullivan, to help us in navigating the sometimes overwhelming task of preparing for this process. Join us as we take a look at the Republican Party of Texas’ platform and planks, elected representatives to support and/or watch out for, and finally, the bills being put forward that we need to be aware of. This will be extremely insightful and we are sure that you’ll leave feeling not only inspired, but prepared for what is to come.
We will also be hearing from Chris Russo, founder and president of Texans for Strong Borders.

About Chris Russo:

Chris Russo is the founder and President of Texans for Strong Borders PAC. TFSB exists to advance sane immigration policies in the best interests of citizens. We believe in stopping illegal immigration and a legal immigration system that serves the interests of Americans first. Chris founded TFSB in Spring 2022 after observing that although a host of special interest policy organizations were focused on a myriad of hot-button issues across the conservative spectrum, no group was organized and actively pushing for Texas First immigration policies at the state level.

TFSB’s focus for the upcoming elections in November will be to support candidates who are champions on border security and immigration policy in key races. Going forward into next legislative session in 2023, TFSB will push for 3 main policy proposals.
1. Declare an invasion through Article I, Section 10 of the US Constitution and deploy state resources to secure the border and return illegal aliens across the border directly.
2. Turn off the Magnets—crack down on state and local programs that make it possible for illegal aliens to live in Texas. Sanctuary cities, county health programs, and in-state tuition are just three examples of Texas policies that provide incentives for lawlessness that can be addressed directly by the legislature.
3. Mandate E-Verify for statewide
Before founding the PAC, Chris was an avid grassroots activist and participated in several campaigns around the state and served as the SD-11 GOP Resolutions Committee chair in 2020.
A Houston native, Chris grew up in Clear Lake before attending Texas A&M University, where he obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering and served as Speaker of the Student Senate. He has worked in the aerospace industry since 2016.
