True Texas Project Adopts Legislative Priorities for the 88th Session of the Texas Legislature

September 13, 2022

At the annual meeting of the True Texas Project Board of Directors in August, Board members adopted five legislative priorities for the 88th Session of the Texas Legislature, which begins on January 10th, 2023.  The legislative priorities are based on our Core Beliefs:  Fiscal Responsibility, Personal Responsibility, Rule of Law, Constitutional Governance, State & National Sovereignty.

True Texas Project Citizen Advocates will be busy throughout session, working to promote these priorities with legislators.  Our Citizen Advocate groups will be at the Capitol, at a minimum, every Tuesday.  We will also schedule visits in addition to Tuesdays as the calendar demands.   People interested in helping to promote our TTP priorities should contact President, Fran Rhodes, at [email protected].

True Texas Project Legislative Priorities: 88th Session of the Texas House and Senate

Support legislation that protects life from conception to natural death.

  • Ensure that current abortion laws are followed and violations prosecuted
  • Protect families and individuals’ rights to make end of life decisions
  • Abolish the 10 Day Rule in the Texas Advanced Directives Act

CORE BELIEF: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, RULE OF LAW

Support legislation that stops the sexualization of children and prohibits the practice of gender modification for minors.

  • Declare chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and genital mutilation surgery on all minor children as child abuse; utilize fines and license revocation for medical practitioners and insurance companies
  • Ensure that minor children are prohibited from attending sexually explicit entertainment events, including Drag Queen events.
  • Keep sexually explicit and graphic materials out of the school libraries

CORE BELIEF: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, RULE OF LAW

Support legislation that promotes real property tax relief.

  • Find a substitute for Property Taxes (consumption tax, use budget surpluses to buy down property taxes)
  • Eliminate the inconsistencies and unfair practices of the state’s appraisal districts
  • Address the inequities of the school funding formulas and repeal Robin Hood

CORE BELIEF: FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT

Support legislation that ends the practice of taxpayer-funded lobbyists.

  • Protect taxpayers from the abuses of taxpayer-funded lobbyists who lobby on behalf of school districts, cities, counties, and other taxing entities against the best interests of the taxpayers.
  • Limit access and influence of taxpayer-funded lobbyists to the legislative process
  • Ensure new legislation applies to ALL Texas regions (not just larger urban areas)

CORE BELIEF: FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNANCE

Support legislation that will truly secure the southern border.

  • Declare the border crisis an invasion; invoke Art IV/Sect 4 & Art I/Sect 10 of the Constitution
  • Engage whatever means necessary to stop illegal immigrants from crossing into Texas
  • End the magnets that draw immigrants to the United States in the first place

CORE BELIEF: CONSTITUTIONAL GOVT, RULE OF LAW, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, STATE & NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY

These lists are NOT all inclusive. TTP will continue to work for any legislation that is in line with our core beliefs or oppose those that are not.  We look forward to developing relationships and interacting with our State Representatives & Senators.  If you would like to contact TTP in regard to our Citizen Advocate program or on any of the above issues, please reach out to Fran Rhodes, President, via email at [email protected].
