The SBOE (State Board of Education) meets again June 22-26 to consider final vote on Social Studies TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills).
Testimony day is Monday the 22nd. We encourage as many people as possible to attend and testify, or attend for support. Under consideration is the new curriculum for social studies which gives emphasis to traditional, accurate history lessons, including good citizenship morality, and an America First viewpoint. People representing Islamic organizations like CAIR have tried to undermine the plan, and insert Islamic influence into the founding of our country and state.
Patriot Mobile has again generously offered to fund a bus from the DFW area. We don’t have sign up details for the bus yet, but I wanted to get the word out so you can reserve the day on your calendar. We’ll publish all details as soon as we have them available. If you don’t live in the area to use the bus, try to get there on your own – form car pools from your area!
Our presence at the April meeting where they did 2nd reading of the Social Studies proposal made a huge difference. This time will be equally important. The Democrats on the Board, and the leftist activists are putting pressure on the weaker Republicans. They file amendments to weaken the plans. Last meeting 39% of the amendments that passed were filed by Democrats. The wider strategy if they can’t stop it from passing, is to chip away at it, and poison it. We need all of our TTP Army voices to stand strong and be vocal!

- Attend the meeting if you can on June 22. If you wish to testify, use this link to sign up for testimony. Sign up can be done starting June 16 at 8:00 am, through June 19 at 5:00 pm. Be sure to carefully read and follow the instructions at the link.
- If you cannot attend, submit your testimony to [email protected].
- Whether you attend or not, contact your own SBOE representative and tell them you want the plan passed as proposed. Contact them regardless if they are Democrat or Republican.
Remember that one of the most important things we do as activists is force the wrong people to do the right thing. Our voices do matter and they do have an effect. So let’s do some shouting!! (Metaphorically speaking. I don’t want you to think I’m asking you to shout at the SBOE members!)
OTHER THINGS HAPPENING THAT WEEK
If you live near the Capitol, or can stay over until Tuesday, there is an Interim Hearing with the House State Affairs Committee on Tuesday, June 23 at 9:00 am. They will be discussing election integrity matters, and specific bills passed last session regarding election integrity issues. I know this is a hot topic with many of you, so you might want to either attend or submit on-line comments. I’ll share details on that when we get closer to the date.
Meanwhile – save the dates for these two important events, and watch for more details as they become available. And keep in mind that famous quote by John Adams. “It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
