Press Release: TTP Board Resolves to Protect Texas Children

September 8, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, SEPTEMBER 7, 2020

The Board of True Texas Project today unanimously adopted a resolution in support of the SBOE’s proposed revisions to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Health, in the Texas Education Code.  The proposed guidelines support a curriculum which teaches students the benefits of abstinence, the risks of early sexual activity, and the importance of allowing sex education to be addressed in the home.

The SBOE will be voting on the proposed guidelines this week when they meet in Austin.  The resolution asks that the guidelines be adopted without amendment, and without the inclusion of “comprehensive sex education”.  TTP believes that sex and sexuality should be taught in the home, by loving parents and guardians, and that such teaching does not belong in the public schools.

True Texas Project is a 501(c)4 organization whose mission is to educate and motivate citizens to engage in politics at every level.

TRUE TEXAS PROJECT

RESOLUTION REGARDING REVISED HEALTH TEKS

WHEREAS, The Texas State Board of Education will meet on Sept 8, 2020 to consider revisions to the Health and Science TEKS in the Texas Education Code; and

WHEREAS, The Board of True Texas Project supports a curriculum which teaches students the benefits of abstinence, the risks of early childhood sexual activity, and the importance of family centered sex education; and

WHEREAS, any amendment to the draft should be to further promote abstinence, healthy decision making, and the importance of marriage in providing a supportive environment for the nurturing and development of children, and

WHEREAS, radical organizations linked to Planned Parenthood have been putting pressure on the SBOE to adopt “comprehensive” sex education seen in states like California and in cities like Austin ISD; and

WHEREAS, “comprehensive sex education” is simply a code name for radical sex education that teaches children that sex is theirs to explore whenever and wherever they choose, that gender is “fluid” and has nothing to do with a child’s biological sex, and that abortion is a basic right that should be promoted; and

WHEREAS, we believe that sex education and sexuality is best left to be taught in the home by loving parents and guardians, and that public schools should not be teaching radical ideologies that contradict family faith and values,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of True Texas Project that the SBOE should adopt the current proposed revisions to the Health TEKS, without amendments that would introduce radical sex education to the curriculum at any level.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that radical comprehensive sex education that promotes hyper-sexualization of children and indoctrinates children with pro-LGBT sexual orientation and gender identity politics should be rejected.

Adopted this 7th day of September, 2020
