As the Texas population and economy grows, there are many corporations, lobbies, and business interests with their eyes on that growth, who are hoping to claim a slice. One of those interests is the predatory gambling lobby. There are BIG money corporations pushing hard to get our legislators to pass laws that will ease up on gambling in Texas. This lobby will tell you that gambling is “your right”, that these casinos are just “luxury resorts”, and that this is a “small government” issue, when in reality, we can look to other places who have allowed this practice and know exactly what the outcome is. We find increased crime and poverty, increased prostitution and drug smuggling, increased alcohol use, family disruption, addiction, and so much more where gambling and casinos are allowed. Let’s welcome Destin Sensky, as we learn about the reality of this dark money lobby, the impact it will certainly have on Texas taxpayers, and why we must focus on keeping them out of our state.
