We are excited to be back in the Rio Grande Valley sector for our 2nd meeting of True Texas Project Cameron County!  After a great kickoff last month with Shelley Luther, the salon owner who defied Gov Abbott so that her employees could work and feed their kids, for this meeting we are hosting none other than grassroots champion and former State Representative Jonathan Stickland, author of the much-publicized Bad Bill Of The Week! Not only that, we are bringing in former State Senator Don Huffines, candidate for Governor of Texas!  The two love to share behind the scenes stories of the ins and outs of the People’s House, the Texas State Capitol.  Why is it always such a struggle for a Republican-led House, Senate, and State Government to pass conservative legislation?  You may be surprised at what you hear.  Come find out!

About Don Huffines:

Donald’s passion for liberty has led him to lifelong involvement in conservative republican causes. He served as a National Delegate at the Republican conventions in 2008, 2012, and 2016, and was a State Delegate at numerous State Conventions. In 2014, Don ran to represent Texas Senate District 16, covering north Dallas County, and won the primary by a narrow margin. He served in two legislative sessions and is most known for authoring legislation that resulted in uncovering the largest government corruption scandal in Texas history. He also authored legislation supporting term limits, pro-life measures, constitutional carry, and school choice, and worked to eliminate the vehicle inspection tax and red light cameras. Though he did not win re-election in November of 2018, Don continues to be actively involved in republican politics by supporting GOP candidates at all levels of government.  In fact, he’s just thrown his hat in the ring for Governor of the State of Texas!  His top campaign issues are closing the border, ensuring election integrity, eliminating property taxes, and ending gender modification in minors.  He’s got a workable plan to accomplish all 4 of those efforts.

About Jonathan Stickland:

Jonathan Stickland represented Texas State House District 92 for 8 years from 2012-2020, coming in on the tea party wave — specifically recruited by NE Tarrant Tea Party (now True Texas Project).  He quickly became the voice and hero of the people. He supports limited government, transparency, limiting regulation and most importantly the voters, not the lobbies. Jonathan is well-known for killing bad bills by utilizing the back mic during House sessions.  He authored the “Bad Bill of the Week,” and he loves to share stories about what happens behind the scenes in the People’s House.  As you can imagine, the Establishment hates him.
